So lets start at the beginning shall we?

Back in 1988, I went to a sleepover at my best friend's house.
She had these posters up on her wall of these cute guys. I mean CUTE! She told me to pick one but I couldn't choose Jon, because he was her favorite, and Jordan was her other friend's favorite. Well, she didn't have many other pictures up, but one caught my eye. Yes...it was Donnie. Instantly I proclaimed that the guy in the ripped jeans and the peace symbol shirt was my favorite. Little did I know, that fateful summer day in 1988 would change my life...FOREVER!

Lets fast forward to 1989. I was the typical fan. Floor to ceiling posters, even inside my closet. I made curtains out of the posters too. I had my doorframe and doorknob plastered in their faces. I snatched up every copy of TeenBeat, Bop, Big Bopper, and Tiger Beat that I could. MAN, was I OBSESSED! Every penny I earned babysitting went to these magazines. I couldn't only have one copy, no...there is a poster of Jon on the backside of Joey. I HAVE TO HAVE 2 COPIES. ( I swear us NKOTB fans kept those mags going for a looooong time)I asked for every book authorized or not for my birthday and Christmas. I even organized a NKOTB bday party for my kid sister. The invitations were home made concert tickets, they had to be dressed as their favorite kid and the cake had NKOTB cartoon images on it. OH MY BLOG!

In the summer of 1990. It was announced. I SHRIEKED like a schoolgirl. Ok I was a schoolgirl. But I was 16 now, and NOT a kid anymore. THE NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK WERE COMING!!!! OH MY BLOG! It was a dream come true. Surely I would snag amazing tickets by being the only one to camp out overnight for tickets! I was smart like that! Little did I know, parents and teens alike all thought the same as I did. We camped out. We got egged, mooned, sworn at. But forget them, we were all camping out for The New Kids! Who were THEY to say WE sucked. That NKOTB sucked? HOW DARE THEY! We swore back and shook our fists, all while the splatter of eggwhites dried on our jackets and NKOTB blankets.

November 1. OH GOD! ITS THE DAY OF THE CONCERT! HOLY CRAP! I decided (with my mum's permission of course) to skip school that day and go meet them! I waited along with about 500 other teens, to catch a glimpse. I arrived at the arena at 10 am...The first tourbus pulled in at about 3ish. It was chilly. My fingers were COLD. But thinking that any moment now I would meet them made me giddy.

Then we saw them. TOURBUSSES! Shrieking, crying, grabbing eachother screaming, fence climbing, fainting. One last spray of Auqua net on my TEASED bangs. Jon got off the bus. He came right to ME! OMG he was so kind. Touching fingers through the chain link fence that separated us. I snapped a couple of photos, but alas, they did not turn out. Jordan came next. Did the same as Jon. Danny and Jo went right in to the arena...So in order to get a good look and some attention of his Donnieness I went up top, on the walkway right above the bus parking. Merely feet above all that was Donnie. When he submerged from the bus.

He was wearing his black ball cap. Green and white Celtics leather jacket and I started screaming. Within seconds, I ripped off my peace symbol belt and yelled his name to get his attention. When he looked up and smiled (oh what a smile it was), without thinking or planning, I heaved my peace symbol belt over the rail and missed his head by mere inches. OH THE HUMILIATION! He bent over and picked it up. Looked up and asked "WHO THREW THIS?" OH GAWD. He's mad...I slowly put my hand up and replied "I DID, SORRY DONNIE" He thanked me and as he was entering the building he was fixing it to his waist! DONNIE WAS WEARING MY BELT!!!!!!!! That made it so worthwhile!

Shortly after that NK mania started to die down. It was getting harder to follow them as I was reaching my partying prime. At 18, I became legal and simply forgot how much I worshipped the guys just a year and a half before. I still watched them on Arsenio Hall. But by that point, Jon was no longer with them, and it was different. Then *poof* NKOTB was no more.

I've always looked them up to see what they are up to. THANK YOU INTERNET. Watched Jordan on Surreal Life, Watched Joe on Dances with the Stars, watched Oprah with Jon and Jordan, watched Ransom, Band of Brothers (and only while watching did I learn Donnie was in it...BONUS). Then came 2008. Perez Hilton mentioned they were reuniting. NO WAY! Then it was in People SO ITS TRUE!

I found NKOTB.COM and began watching the videos, awaiting a concert date (Nov. 18 btw...almost exactly 18 years since I last saw them here), awaiting album releases and my Donnie Worshipping is Back!

Cant wait to see you guys on tour! I am so excited. And I did stop using Aqua net, I no longer wear ripped jeans, but I will probably still hyperventalate when I see you all :)
